Datamaxx Attains National Certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise

Datamaxx is excited to announce it recently attained national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Development Council of Florida, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

“Datamaxx is pleased to receive the WBENC certification and assist our customers, both present and future, in meeting their diversity initiatives,” commented Datamaxx CEO Kay Stephenson.

WBENC is an approved Third Party Certifier for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program. WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the Women’s Development Council of Florida is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women.

To be eligible to compete for WOSB set-asides or receive sole source awards, organizations must either be certified by an SBA-approved Third-Party Certifier such as the WBENC or self-certify in accordance with current SBA regulations. However, The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2016 eliminated the self-certification process for the WOSB program. Datamaxx Celebrates 25 Years Serving those Who Protect & Serve

In 1991, Jonathan Waters and I shared a passion to build a company to improve mission critical communications and to encourage information sharing for those on the front lines protecting our communities. Our vision soon became a reality and our successes multiplied. From our beginning, innovation has been the hallmark of who we are and what we do. Datamaxx became the first company to transmit images between state law enforcement agencies. In 1999, Datamaxx deployed the first wireless handheld application to the New York City Police Department. Then in 2003, Datamaxx became the first Strategic Partner of Nlets and launched the first Nlets-audited, FBI CJIS Compliant private secure cloud. Once again, in 2014, Datamaxx enhanced our product line to encompass solutions for “designated” critical infrastructures, eighty-five percent of which are owned by the private sector. These are just a few Datamaxx “firsts” and only the beginning of what is yet to come!

Our passion continues to burn brightly and is shared across the entire Datamaxx organization. We always want to bring to our customers ideas and solutions that no one else does. We want the opportunity to work with our customers to positively impact our world. As we look to the future, where security is of paramount concern, Datamaxx aims to bridge the gap between the public and private sector. Happy 22nd Datamaxx!

Can you believe today marks 22 years since we opened our doors at Datamaxx? Where did the time go? We have come a long way since opening that tiny 600-square-foot office where Jonathan Waters and I closed our first contract with the State of Nebraska. As we enter our 23^rd year, we are once again faced with new challenges and an ever-changing market.

It is certainly no secret the market has changed and budgets are tight in the law enforcement, public safety and criminal justice markets. But, as we know, necessity is the mother of invention and our optimism springs eternal. All of us at Datamaxx welcome these challenges as new opportunities to explore innovation and develop creative solutions for the customers we serve to keep our country safe. Now more than ever, professionals in the public sector are realizing the value of public-private partnerships to improve information-sharing and therefore strengthen the security of our nation and its citizens. The movement to cloud-based technology is an excellent example of such forward thinking. We at Datamaxx have a history of forging these types of public-private partnerships, which have lead to innovative technology solutions while reducing the resource burden on our government entities. Datamaxx formed industry-first strategic partnerships, including becoming the first Strategic Partner Organization of Nlets. Datamaxx and Flat Earth Partner to Make Mission-Critical Data Access More Affordable for TN Law Enforcement

Tallahassee, FL – (September 2013) At the Tennessee Information Enforcement System (TIES) User Group Conference in late August, Datamaxx Group, Inc. (Datamaxx) announced a new partnership to make information access and sharing more affordable for Tennessee law enforcement and public safety agencies. Datamaxx has teamed up with Flat Earth, a secure network solutions provider, to allow Tennessee agencies to remove their need for a costly “T-1” connection to the state for mission-critical data access. Agencies now can access and share data from TIES, Nlets and NCIC through the Datamaxx solution, Omnixx Force, via a secure “gateway” connection provided by Flat Earth, to realize considerable savings.

Kay Stephenson Elected to Integrated Justice Information Systems Institute (IJIS) Board of Directors & Executive Committee

Tallahassee, FL – Kay Stephenson, Co-Founder, President & CEO of Datamaxx Group, Inc., was recently elected by members of the Integrated Justice Information Systems (IJIS) Institute to the Board of Directors. The IJIS Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting the private and public sectors to improve mission-critical information sharing.

“I strongly believe timely and accurate information sharing is crucial to safeguarding our country,” commented Stephenson. “I am proud to serve on the IJIS Board of Directors and its Executive Committee to facilitate collaboration between government and private industry, which is key to successful information sharing initiatives.”

The IJIS Institute includes nearly 200 member and affiliate companies. In addition to Stephenson, the following new directors were elected to serve a three year term.

The four officers and at-large member, Kay Stephenson, Datamaxx Group, Inc., along with Executive Director, Steve Ambrosini, will serve on the Executive Committee of the Board.

Public safety agencies across the state of Montana have begun using a secure cloud environment for data sharing capabilities. Following a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Montana Department of Justice and Datamaxx Group, all agencies were given direct access to the Datamaxx Secure Cloud, which provides law enforcement networks and homeland security information compliant with both the FBI and the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (Nlets).

The cloud can be defined as a network that computers and other devices can access anytime and anywhere they have an Internet connection. A public cloud is one where the infrastructure is made available to the general public over the Internet, whereas a private cloud offers more organizational oversight and control over the security and privacy of the network. Cloud technologies can be implemented in a wide variety of architectures and deployment models and can coexist with other technologies. Many clouds may also require different permissions for accessing information.

Using a cloud not only allows for better information sharing, it also helps with curbing costs. In a cloud environment, information exchanged between state, local and federal public safety agencies is secure, fast and a cheaper investment than most in-house solutions. Clouds eliminate many costs associated with storage, staffing, and multiple application uploads.

Montana Public Safety Agencies Can Now Use Secure Cloud for Data Sharing Solutions

Fort Benton Police Department leading the way with new, high-tech tool to fight crime

Montana public safety agencies can now reap the benefits of using a cloud environment for criminal justice information sharing, and do so free of security concerns. The Montana Department of Justice (MDOJ) recently reached a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Datamaxx Group (Datamaxx) to allow all Montana public safety agencies to utilize the Datamaxx Secure Cloud. Datamaxx Secure Cloud Solutions provide direct access to private law enforcement networks and homeland security information sources via the industry’s first and only FBI- and Nlets-audited cloud.

Leading the way in the state of Montana is the Fort Benton Police Department. In December, 2011, the Department began subscribing to and using the Datamaxx Omnixx Force Mobile solution – a state-of-the-art law enforcement mobile data solution that enables officers to access mission critical data and perform daily duties wirelessly from the law enforcement vehicle.
