Datamaxx Attains National Certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise

Datamaxx is excited to announce it recently attained national certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Development Council of Florida, a regional certifying partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

“Datamaxx is pleased to receive the WBENC certification and assist our customers, both present and future, in meeting their diversity initiatives,” commented Datamaxx CEO Kay Stephenson.

WBENC is an approved Third Party Certifier for the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contracting Program. WBENC’s national standard of certification implemented by the Women’s Development Council of Florida is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women.

To be eligible to compete for WOSB set-asides or receive sole source awards, organizations must either be certified by an SBA-approved Third-Party Certifier such as the WBENC or self-certify in accordance with current SBA regulations. However, The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2016 eliminated the self-certification process for the WOSB program. Datamaxx Celebrates 25 Years Serving those Who Protect & Serve

In 1991, Jonathan Waters and I shared a passion to build a company to improve mission critical communications and to encourage information sharing for those on the front lines protecting our communities. Our vision soon became a reality and our successes multiplied. From our beginning, innovation has been the hallmark of who we are and what we do. Datamaxx became the first company to transmit images between state law enforcement agencies. In 1999, Datamaxx deployed the first wireless handheld application to the New York City Police Department. Then in 2003, Datamaxx became the first Strategic Partner of Nlets and launched the first Nlets-audited, FBI CJIS Compliant private secure cloud. Once again, in 2014, Datamaxx enhanced our product line to encompass solutions for “designated” critical infrastructures, eighty-five percent of which are owned by the private sector. These are just a few Datamaxx “firsts” and only the beginning of what is yet to come!

Our passion continues to burn brightly and is shared across the entire Datamaxx organization. We always want to bring to our customers ideas and solutions that no one else does. We want the opportunity to work with our customers to positively impact our world. Datamaxx Receives Governor’s Business Ambassador Award

Florida Governor Rick Scott recognized Datamaxx Group, Inc. (Datamaxx) with the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award at the Florida Cabinet meeting Sept. 29, 2015. Datamaxx was one of two businesses to receive the award during a special ceremony. The Governor’s Business Ambassador Award is given to individuals for their efforts in creating jobs and opportunities for Florida families.

Governor Rick Scott said, “I am excited to recognize two successful Florida businesses today for their hard work to create opportunities for families. We will keep working to grow a business friendly environment in Florida so companies like UniKey and Datamaxx can continue to succeed and create jobs for our families.”

Datamaxx Again Recognized as Top Women-Led Business in Florida

Tallahassee, FL – (April 24, 2015) The Datamaxx Group (Datamaxx), led by CEO, President, and Co-Founder Kay Stephenson, was named one of Florida’s 2015 Top Women-Led Businesses by The Commonwealth Institute (TCI), a distinction earned for nine consecutive years. The rankings are based on an annual survey distributed to roughly 5,000 businesses in Florida and analysis of survey responses by Kaufman Rossin, a South Florida accounting firm. Datamaxx ranked 27th and was the only Northwest Florida-based company included on the list.

The Commonwealth Institute in South Florida is a non-profit organization that helps women entrepreneurs, CEOs, and corporate executives build successful businesses through peer mentoring programs. In addition to looking at the characteristics of women leaders and their businesses and determining the Top 50 Women-Led Businesses, the survey found that 85% of women leading Florida businesses project moderate or substantial growth in their firms’ revenue and 60% expect to increase staff members.

Washington State Patrol Deploys State-of-the-Art Datamaxx Message Switch to Share Criminal Justice Information

As 2014 begins to come to a close, we at Datamaxx are pleased to tell you about one of our proudest accomplishments from this exciting year. Washington State Patrol (WSP), the Control Terminal Agency for the State of Washington, recently completed the replacement of its message switch, A Central Computerized Enforcement Service System (ACCESS), along with a statewide deployment of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) workstations and an archive system. WSP chose the Datamaxx Omnixx Enterprise Platform with Omnixx Message Broker to replace its outdated, proprietary Level II switch.

The goal of the new ACCESS system was to provide flexible, reliable, and accurate message switching and information access within and among law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in Washington State and across the United States. And, we are excited to report the new message switch from Datamaxx is averaging 1.25 million transactions per day and nearly 40 million per month. In addition, the new ACCESS system interfaces with an impressive six data sources, including NCIC (National Crime Information Center) and Nlets (the International Justice and Public Safety Network), and has maintained a 98% uptime. While supporting six years of online data plus the current year, the system services 123 regional and 1,607 non-regional agencies.

The new Omnixx Message Broker system is processing one of the highest CJIS message volumes in the country.

This project was an extraordinary undertaking and we are very proud of the results, which were due to the hard work of and partnerships between Datamaxx team members and WSP leaders. With such a high number of users, regionals, and message transactions, deploying this type of solution presented a number of challenges. In spite of these obstacles, the Omnixx Enterprise Platform deployment was a seamless migration for the nearly 25,000 users who access the system both directly and via their own agency’s systems, such as a Computer Aided Dispatch.

Happy 22nd Datamaxx!

Can you believe today marks 22 years since we opened our doors at Datamaxx? Where did the time go? We have come a long way since opening that tiny 600-square-foot office where Jonathan Waters and I closed our first contract with the State of Nebraska. As we enter our 23^rd year, we are once again faced with new challenges and an ever-changing market.

It is certainly no secret the market has changed and budgets are tight in the law enforcement, public safety and criminal justice markets. But, as we know, necessity is the mother of invention and our optimism springs eternal. All of us at Datamaxx welcome these challenges as new opportunities to explore innovation and develop creative solutions for the customers we serve to keep our country safe. Now more than ever, professionals in the public sector are realizing the value of public-private partnerships to improve information-sharing and therefore strengthen the security of our nation and its citizens. The movement to cloud-based technology is an excellent example of such forward thinking. We at Datamaxx have a history of forging these types of public-private partnerships, which have lead to innovative technology solutions while reducing the resource burden on our government entities. Datamaxx and Flat Earth Partner to Make Mission-Critical Data Access More Affordable for TN Law Enforcement

Tallahassee, FL – (September 2013) At the Tennessee Information Enforcement System (TIES) User Group Conference in late August, Datamaxx Group, Inc. (Datamaxx) announced a new partnership to make information access and sharing more affordable for Tennessee law enforcement and public safety agencies. Datamaxx has teamed up with Flat Earth, a secure network solutions provider, to allow Tennessee agencies to remove their need for a costly “T-1” connection to the state for mission-critical data access. Datamaxx Adds Risk-Based Authentication to Improve Security for its Law Enforcement Technology Solutions

New security upgrades ensure compliance with FBI CJIS and Nlets Security Policies

The Datamaxx Group (Datamaxx) recently upgraded two solutions in its flagship law enforcement technology suite, Omnixx Enterprise, with risk-based advanced authentication to improve security and ensure compliance with FBI

CJIS Security Policy. Omnixx Force Mobile and Omnixx Force Web now join Omnixx Force Desktop as solutions with this advanced authentication capability. Omnixx Enterprise is the only criminal justice information sharing solution to date utilizing a risk-based advanced authentication approach to meet the FBI CJIS Security Policy.

Risk-based advanced authentication uses many factors, such as device characteristics and IP address, to determine the “risk” of the user, then presents a series of security questions based on the risk level. This process increases efficiency while maintaining a high level of security. Additionally, software tokens replace the use of physical hardware tokens, such as smart cards or hardware/paper tokens, making risk-based advanced authentication more convenient and cost effective for agencies to manage. “This hands-free component means that police officers and other personnel using Omnixx Enterprise can concentrate on their mission-critical tasks instead of worrying about lost or misplaced tokens,” said Brad Long, Director of Business Development for the Datamaxx Group.

Risk-based authentication is widely used in the financial industry, but Datamaxx is first in the criminal justice information sharing industry to incorporate this authentication method. In addition to using risk-based advanced authentication, Omnixx Enterprise also meets FIPS 140-2 encryption standards, making it the most advanced and secure technology solution on the market today for law enforcement and public safety. FIPS 140-2 is a standard for encrypting sensitive data issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

“The upgrade to risk-based authentication is also important for the new CJIS security standard that will require advanced authentication in patrol cars by 2013,” continued Long. “Users of Omnixx Force Mobile in patrol cars can be confident they are meeting all FBI CJIS Security policies.”
